Labor violations at China iPod factory ?

Our China-made iPods are from very hard working Chinese indeed. They pay such low labor charges but the iPods cause way too much. Apple Computer Inc.'s investigation into claims of poor working conditions at a Chinese iPod factory found no forced labor or other serious violations, the company said Friday. Apple added that it was taking immediate steps to deal with excess overtime and other issues. The probe by the Cupertino, California-based company, was in response to a report by a British newspaper, the Mail on Sunday, which alleged that workers at the factory were paid as little as 27 British pounds (US$50) a month and forced to work 15-hour shifts making the digital music players. The factory, which supplies electronics components and accessories to other companies as well as Apple, is a small city in its own right, with clinics, recreational facilities, buses and 13 restaurants serving its 200,000 workers.

Haagen-Dazs Petite mooncake...YUMMY

Image
While shopping in and around MidValley Megamall, I went and try out the Haagen Dazs latest ice-cream mooncake collection with my other half. We tried the Coffee and Strawberry Petite Mooncake which was heavenly. Each mooncake cost RM25 (with 10% service tax & 5% govt tax). Total bill came up to RM57.50. I was not allowed to utilise my usual 20% discount from  Super Privilege Card . How sad.... :( If you purchase a set of four pieces, then I get a measly 5% discount from the list pice of RM88 (for Petite) / RM118 (for Classic). Difference between them : Classic is the bigger than Petite..DUH !!! Also the inside has different ice-cream flavours.

How I was "cheated" by Royal Selangor

Image
Here's the sad story.............. On 15 July 2006, I bought FIFA World Cup 2006 Fridge Magnet at RM65 per set from The Curve outlet. I specifically asked the salesperson why there's no discount after World Cup 2006. He replied " This is special edition, thus no discount ". Thus, I bought it without hesitation. 2 weeks later, I passed by the same Royal Selangor store and notice there's a Merdeka Sale banner at the window. As curious as I am, I walked into the store and to my horror !!!!!!!!  All FIFA World Cup 2006 items are on 50% DISCOUNT !!!!! At the same price I bought at, I could have get 2 sets.... Note to self : Be patient and wait for the best offer Click HERE for the complete The Germany 2006 FIFA World Cup Collection p.s. Actually not complete because my Fridge Magnet is not listed on the website.
